Sarah Thompson – Piano and Violin Instructor

I have been playing piano and violin for 14 years. During that time I have had the opportunity to play with the Erie Junior Phil Harmonic and also in their various ensembles. I preformed and studied with them for seven years, four of those spent in the main orchestra. I performed alongside with the Erie Phil Harmonic three separate times and also the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony. I have also performed in the district and regional orchestra for two years and played in the pit orchestra for community theater. I have accompanied on the piano for several choirs, including a local high school and two churches where I was employed as Director of Music. I have always loved music and teaching just came naturally. In my opinion, music is a part of everyone and needs to be expressed. It should be […]

SSM Student Showcase Highlights Video

On April 20th, 2014 we held our first Sandy Springs Music Student Showcase. This was a very small number of our best students showing their skills at a real music venue here in Sandy Springs!
Check out the video below:

Rachel Campbell – Violin, Viola & Cello Instructor

Rachel Campbell is a passionate musician and teacher with a wide musical background. She credits the violin with sparking her love for music, but her experience learning guitar and self-teaching piano as a teenager gives her a unique perspective on teaching string instruments and various styles of music.

Rachel holds a degree in Music Education from Kennesaw State University, where she studied under Helen Kim (Juilliard School).  Rachel’s experience teaching in the elementary and middle school classroom setting, where she developed skills including classroom management, lesson planning, and adaptability, has contributed greatly to the quality of her teaching in private lessons. Parents and students often remark on Rachel’s patience and ability to relate with students, build confidence in their playing, and create a fun and relaxed environment while establishing solid playing techniques.  Rachel has been teaching violin, viola, and cello at Sandy Springs Music since 2014.
